We hear it all the time…
“Readers are great leaders”
And while I do believe in this quote, I think there’s a lot more to just reading a book to become a great ladder.
I think my friend Jim Kwik said it best :
And that is…
Knowledge is not power. It’s only potential power. It only becomes power when we apply it and use it. Somebody who reads a book and doesn’t apply it, they’re at no advantage over somebody who’s illiterate – Jim Kwick
In this solo episode, I’m going to share with you six books that changed my life and will help you take your business to the next level.
Today, we’re going to talk about books…
…more specifically, six books that changed my life.
if you want to become a better entrepreneur… then these six books are ones that you should read.
They should be the backbone of your messaging, and the starting point for which you operate.
THAT’S how important I believe they are.
And I’m about to show and prove this to you.
But before we get into all of that…
If you’re just reading this for the first time – welcome home!
In these articles, we talk about everything surrounding entrepreneurship. So, if you want to scale your business with clarity, make sure to check out my FREE training- The Last Customer Journey
The idea to share these books with you came from a question I was asked at my live event when I was chatting with entrepreneurs during breaks.
If you had to start all over, If you lost everything in your business, if you’ve never read a book, if you were just starting out. What books would you read and recommend to give you a leg up or almost guarantee your success?
And it really got me thinking about how I would start over.
So, let’s dive into six books that changed my life.
#1 The Go-Giver By Bob Burg
This is the Bible for how I do everything in my business. And if you have not listened to the podcast on this show with Bob Berg, open your favorite platform and give it a listen,
This book is a story about the five principles of success that will change the way you show up in the world. It’s about humanity over transitions and something I recommend everyone should read in their lives.
#2 Personality Isn’t Permanent By Benjamin Hardy
Benjamin is a psychologist that transitioned over into writing books and articles to help entrepreneurs and humans thrive.
Personality Isn’t Permanent gave me the clarity and the tools I needed to start making changes tactically to who I am and how I show up every day to create the results I want in my life.
Most of us don’t have the business we want yet because we haven’t become the person to run it. And that’s a trap that I was stuck in.
It felt like prison for like six years until it finally clicked. And the book that did it for me was Personality Isn’t Permanent by Benjamin Hardy
#3 The Gap and the Gain by Benjamin Hardy and Dan Sullivan.
This is a book that addresses a trend that entrepreneurs go through all the time.
It’s the trap of never feeling like things are good enough.
And to me, it’s funny because it really is the recipe for entrepreneurship.
Your initial goal might be to make a hundred thousand dollars, but then once you make it, it goes to a million. And then all of the sudden rather than focus on the wins, you focus on the gap and not the behaviors or the actions that you put into place that created the result in the first place.
So, if you feel that gap, this is the book for you.
#4 The Comfort Crisis by Michael Easter
This is a book that I re-listen to at least twice a year.
The purpose of this book is to utilize your gift, which is yourself, to create environments which stretch you, make you stronger, and stretch your muscles to help you develop a deep sense of self-identity and push the fabric of your existence.
I love this cheesy quote around a rubber band: when you stretch a rubber band, it never comes back to the same size.
The same can be true for yourself as an entrepreneur.
It’s really easy to collect strategies and tactics and tools and platforms, but if you don’t ever flex the person who’s holding the tools, then no gain will actually be made.
#5 The Catalyst by Jonah Berger
Your job is not to control or manipulate people, it’s to become the catalyst for their change and their growth.
This book is all about becoming the catalyst so you can change anyone’s mind.
If you ever asked any of these questions:
Where should I learn it? How do I apply it? How do I become the best at it? How do I really empower my team? How do I empower my customers? How do I get them the results?
This is the book for you.
#6 Atomic Habits by James Clear
Atomic Habits is number six for a reason, because once you read books 1- 5, this is the book that you use to put every single one of those books into practice to create the results that you want.
It talks about habit stacking and clarity.
It helps you break your goals down and put them into daily behaviors that build momentum over time so you can accomplish more than you originally planned.
It literally is one of the best books on building winning habits and I even did a podcast on it called environmental design.
Recap
These books only work if you read them. As soon as you get an ounce of clarity, take action and implement it. You’ll be living a drastically different life with different results sometime in the next six months, but these will only work if you read them and put them into practice.
