This post share you the exact process to craft a crystal clear vision. The exact three steps required to document your vision, bring it to life and create space for its existence
Welcome to the episode where I talk about the lesson that took me the longest to learn and the longest time to implement. And then once I did, it was the easiest thing to maintain the thing I should have done 10 years ago. And I’m so grateful I have now and now I have to recommend it to everybody and make it a non-negotiable because it is, it is one of the easiest clearest and simplistic ways to guarantee your success.
And I don’t even think I’m like thinking about why I’m recording the intro of this one. And I think I’m going to do something along the lines of would you ever willingly get in a car moving 85 miles an hour down a highway in traffic both ways and agree to drive it for five miles with a blindfold?
The answer is probably not. And I think that’s what I’m going to say in the intro. I think so, because that’s what today’s episode is about. And it’s about how to cast a clear vision for your company and sometimes even in your life. And one parallel here in the world of like personal development and I’ve done a lot of personal development work, personal development books, trainings, taught it coached it, all of those different things. And one big idea. And it’s really actually not a big idea. It’s a big distinction that comes up is that there are no compartments,. Like as humans, we tend to think. And, and I did this as well, and I still do this. And I’m accountable to, and I worked through it, but we tend to think like well, you know, I’m really motivated at the gym. And I do it really, really well. And then I’m really, really motivated in my life and my personal life. But then at work, like I’m really, really not motivated. And the truth is is that like there isn’t a compartment. Like you can’t be motivated and in work and not motivated at the gym or vice versa. We might think we are, but like foundationally underneath it is that we have a base.
Like we have a base as a human. We have a base of our training, our practice, our mindset, our energy, our intentionality, our focus. We have a base that we, we operate from and we constantly every day train that base. It’s like when you go to the gym for 10 years straight, you, you ever different base of muscle than somebody who hasn’t gone before.
And when you think about life and your. Constantly introspective and working on yourself and learning and growing and iterating, you develop a very strong base of those habits in your come from both consciously and subconsciously. And that base is where we operate from. That’s our default, when everything else is stripped away, when, when all the noise has gone and everything like that is our base.
And so a lot of times you’ll hear me talk about life or business. And I mean them interchangeably because. If you practice it in business, it’s going to positively impact your life. If you practice it in life, it’s going to positively impact your business. And so, you know, a lot of it just comes from being very intentional and aware of how we show up and how we operate. And like, I’ll give you an example. Like I struggle a lot sometimes, and I’m not like in this creative zone or in this feeling when I don’t honor my daily practice, I get into this like rut of like trying to get going for the day or into momentum for the day.
And then. I’ll be like, Oh, it’s really, really easy. Like, I’ll go to the gym. And then I go to the gym and it’s funny. I noticed too, like I get there and it’s like the first 30 minutes, like I’m “motivated”, even though motivation is just having a clear goal and determination to get there agnostic of feelings, but I’m like motivated, but like I’m struggling and I’m sluggish. And then like, I kind of get warmed up and then like right in the middle, I kind of hit the sweet spot like go. And I’ve understood now about myself, that when I go to run a race or when I go to start a project or when I go to do work out or when I go, eh, To an event or agree to an outing or any of those things that I need a prep period. I need a warm up period. And that level of clarity is really supportive for me. Like I can’t just wake up and jump into work. I don’t feel grounded. I don’t get it. And that’s a level of clarity that I have. That’s a level of clarity that I have on like how to support myself and how to be clear on how I move the needle. And so with that level of clarity, I practice, you know, what works, what doesn’t work and I make adjustments.
So what I want, you know, The lens in which, or maybe not lens if you’re watching this, but if you’re listening this, maybe the headphones in which you hear this, or you know, the effect of which you hear this for me is realizing that wherever we focus our energy and attention, whether it’s business or life or the gym. If we go into it with our best like intentionality and clarity and focus, and we go all the way in that it’s going to drip out because we’re working in our base. We’re not just working on how we are at the gym.
So if you go to the gym and you’re meticulous and you’re going to do three sets of 10, and even if you have to take a longer break, no matter what you will do that 10th rep, no matter what, you won’t stop at eight, you won’t stop at nine. Maybe you can take a break and then do that 10th one. That same base is going to carry over into business where it’s like, Oh, I really, really don’t want to write those last two emails. I’ll do it. I’ll do it. No, you know what? I’m going to do it. I’m going to do it or into life where it’s like, Oh, I really don’t want to take out the trash. And I really don’t want to make my bed, or I really don’t want to put my laundry away, but you do. And so for me, I think it’s important as we get into this episode. And if you take anything from this episode, whatever it is, you take one part, you take all of it, you take a small part or parts of different pieces.
That you don’t feel like you have to practice it in business, or you have to practice it in your life, or if you have to practice it in the gym or anywhere in your life, it’s that you just have to practice it, you practice it in a manner that is supportive of you. And yes, there are some areas that are only applicable to your business.
But make sure when you go into those areas and you go work on those areas that you’re not doing it just to work on that area and check a box, you’re doing it to increase your base, that you’re meticulous, and you’re doing it with energy and attention and you’re giving it all. And I was reading this in a book this morning, Marcus Aurelius Meditations, and really like one of his meditation focuses in one passage. I read this morning. Was very simply about looking at every task like it’s our last one, giving every task are all like at the end of it. Like if our life ended at the end of it, all we would be known for is that task. And. It’s a really, really interesting concept, especially from stoicism and understanding this.
But when we think about it in business and I catch myself all the time, like, I’ll agree to things, I’ll agree to do a podcast. I’ll agree to do an interview and I’m sloppy. Like I’ll just sit down on my computer two minutes before the interview starts. And like, I’m like, I’ve been interviewed so many times, like I can just do this and do this and do this. And normally the first part of that episode is rough. And then like I get into the flow. But when I say like, Hey, I have an interview at 1:00 PM and I sit down at 1230, I start. Prepping. And I review my notes on like what I want to share with the audience. And I review myself and I do some breath working at grounded and I treat it like, it’s my last task. I treat it like, if this is the last podcast, if this is the last interview I do, this is what I want to be known for. And I’m proud of it. It’s really, really powerful. And those episodes tend to come out the greatest and those emails come out the greatest and those meetings come out the greatest. And one secret to all of it is clarity.
And it’s having clarity of what I want the outcome to be, because I can’t know what energy or what intentionality to put into something as it’s my last to be proud of it. If I don’t know what I want the outcome to be, which is what brings us into like, kind of the meat of today’s episode, where we talk about how to cast a clear vision for your company.
And so when I think about this, Operating a business without crystal clarity on your longterm vision and crystal clarity on your sort term goals that lead to that vision is like taking a one-way flight on a plane that has no navigation, no communication, or a clear destination, never ends. Well, the vision and clarity is vital to enrolling team inspiring, bigger and more strategic accents and tracking progress. And today, like, I’m going to talk to you about how you can cast this vision and create clarity for you, your team, and for your customers.
And so when we think about. Having a clear vision for our company. It first starts by having a clear vision for ourselves. And especially if you’re a business owner here, if you’re an entrepreneur, you own your business, or even if you’re in a business and you’re in a pivotal role, or maybe you’re in a lower role, it’s hard to align to a company’s visions or to a shared vision when we’re not even aligned to our own. So I just want to be clear and you may have heard me say this before that nobody has a marketing problem. People have relationship problems and myself included with ourself, our team, and then our customers in that order. And if we’re ever finding ourselves, like in our own company or in a company, we work for trying to align to a vision, but we find ourselves stuck or having trouble getting into it or having trouble aligning with it or getting excited about it. Most of the time, it’s because we’re missing clarity on our vision and who we are and how we choose to show up and where we want to go so that when we participate, we can participate all the way in, give it our, all that helped create a result.
And so for me, there’s like three parts that comes simply down, come simply down. I don’t know what that means. There are three parts broken down simply to get to that clear vision. And there, this number one is documenting your vision. Number two is bringing it to life. And then number three is creating space for its existence. And so the first part of this episode, as you’ve been listening, it’s kind of been me giving context and talking, but from this point forward, we’re going to get right into the meat of it.
They’re probably going to be like, I don’t know, five, 10 more minutes of me talking about this. And I’m going to give you the actual clear steps. And like, I want you to stick around, like, listen to this, get a pen, get a piece of paper, write it down. I want you to write these steps down because these are pivotal for you having that clear vision and success that you want and the alignment to get there.
And so from this point, I’m just gonna get right into the meat of it. Because I talk a lot. I know, but I want this to be one of those shorter episodes, but you’re going to have to let me know, like shoot us a message on Facebook. Like shoot me a message. George Bryant, you know where to find me or on the website. Let me know. Like, I do have a question. When we think about these things, I always want to give a tangible takeaway, like, boom, boom, boom, step one, step two, step three. But is there like a length because you know me, I would talk for like six hours in a row in this podcast and Joe Rogan and I really want to. I want to make sure you like it.
So maybe, maybe you want one long episode a week and maybe a couple short ones a week and I’m getting ready by the way. You’re going to be in for a treat soon because I’ve been interviewing so amazing rock stars. I’m gonna start bringing them on the show. And one of my rules with all the guests that I’m going to be interviewing. Is that they have to come on the episode and they have to give you some of their best advice that they charge money for for free or their best process or best protocol or best content for free on the show or an ability for you to access it. And that’s basically Haim. That’s basically what I’m making them do to come on the show because I’m bullying them into giving value to you. But no, they really willingly love it and they want to do it and they want to share it. And so I’m getting excited about that, but let me know.
So now that I’m done bumping my gums and I just kind of did like an ad for our own podcast coming up in the middle, but that’s okay. This is how this works, but I want to know that feedback. So let’s get back to casting a clear vision for your company. So remember we break it down into three sections. Documenting your vision, bringing it to life and creating space for its existence. So when we think about documenting your vision, I’m going to challenge you to create a vision. And here’s, I want you to do it. I want you to start by creating a three month then a six month then a 12 month then a five year vision. And then I want you to create a hundred year vision.
And I mean this, I mean, I want you to sit down and I want you to take separate pieces of paper or separate documents or separate video recordings or separate audio recordings. And I want you to very clearly. Talk about that vision. And I want you to talk about it like a tear and present, and I want to feel it. I want to taste it. I want texture to it. I want to talk about like in five years, I want to wake up in my mountain house in Durango, Colorado, where we have 38 acres of property, 26 horses. And I walked down, down my well hand carved wooden staircase on my tile floor and my plaid, pajama pants and my relationships beat algorithm’s tee shirt with a lighthouse on it, a little groggy, you know, still a shaved head looking for that cup of coffee. And I walk into my kitchen and I see my beautiful wife with her back to me as she’s. Leaning over the sink, looking out the window at the horses and my son, who’s now 10. And my daughter who is 24, is sitting at the counter, eating their breakfast of pancakes and eggs. And we’re sitting down for our family breakfast. As we design our day, we’re going to go out to the farm. We’re going to feed the animals.
And I’m gonna spend the first two hours or is it my day handling that and filling that bucket for me before I go to work, I’m going to walk into my office. I’m going to sit in my office and it’s like this 20 by 20 square foot office, nothing fancy wooden desk, but I have this leather chair that I absolutely love. And every time I sit in it, it makes me motivated to work. I got pictures of the wall in my family. I have a bookcase on the left of a thousand books that I’ve read. In the last five years as I pursue my knowledge and I opened my laptop and I get to work on my company and my company in the last year alone has impacted 25,000 people.
And given them access to clean water and help them build a sustainable life and future by having access to the things that matter that they should have access to. And we do this by doing blank and blank and blank. And I want you to do this now. That’s my vision’s done. I was giving you an example cause I could go on for 20 minutes.
But I want you to do this and I want you to do it. Like I said, in the increments, I said. And so, you know, whether it’s, you know, 90 days, six months, a year, five years, a hundred, or at, at minimum 90 days a year, Five years and a hundred. And I want you to do it all the way out. And yes, when you do your a hundred year vision, you’re going to have to tell me what your company looks like without you in it.
What the legacy is, how it’s running, who’s running it. And I want you to literally on a piece of paper, even if you record it audio only, I want you on a piece of paper. To then very strategically write it all out or type it out in a Google document or an a note document. And I want it to be very clear and succinct to the point factual, distinct.
And I want you to write it out. And then once you’re done writing it out, this is the most important part you’re going to then open your phone and you’re going to open the audio recording section. Okay. And then you are going to combine all of them togetherso you’re going to read all of them. You’re going to read the 90 day. You’re going to read the six month the five-year and the hundred year in one audio note. And you’re going to read it all the way through and you’re going to document it. Even better if you want to do it on video, and then you’re going to use that. And you’re going to listen to it every single day, at least once a day, every single day.
And you’re going to listen to it or watch it. And I’m going to tell you right now, It is very important that you do it in your own voice because your brain trusts your voice. It’s safe. It’s familiar when somebody else says something to you, it’s passing through filters of like, who is this person? What are they saying? Can I trust them? But when you say it to you, you believe it. And your self talk and your voice is how you program your subconscious and align it to achieve the results. So what is it? Absolutely imperative that you do this in your own voice, talking through and describing your vision and goals. And if you’re reading it and you add more, add more.
And if you want to feel it, be excited, exhibit the energy in the recording that you want to feel in that moment. Imagine you’re there and feel it because what you’re doing is you’re aligning yourself to create it and I need you to do it in your voice. And so that’s the part on documenting your vision. And as soon as you’re done with that, you’re going to move into bringing it to life.
And there’s this, this kind of trap when it comes to life where it’s like, we’re going to get what we want by doing more, get what we want by doing more. But when we’re doing more, we’re just doing that. We’re doing more.
What we need to spend more time on is designing our life. Because as Abraham Lincoln said, like measure, I don’t know, like sharpen the ax a lot longer to cut the tree once or like measure twice to cut once the same thing applies to life and the same thing applies to business and you need to be intentional.
About your life. You need to give yourself space every day in the morning and the afternoon in the evening in whatever time, where you have uninterrupted, you time, you have uninterrupted thinking time, where you have space in your day to visualize your goals, visualize your outcomes, and then make a proactive plan to get there.
And so this concept of thinking time was introduced to me by Keith Cunningham, who wrote a book called the road less stupid. I think this book should be required reading for human beings, nevermind entrepreneurs or business owners. It’s reflective. It’s amazing. It’s powerful. It belongs in everybody’s brain. I think it should be required. And so I highly recommend that book the road less stupid by Keith Cunningham. And so you need to create your thinking time. And then as you do this in that thinking time, or you take your vision that you want, you need to start bringing it into existence..
And so we’ve heard of like vision goals and visions for the company and vision for your life. I’m going to highly recommend that you don’t use words. So you wrote your vision. You recorded your vision and now when you bring it to life, you’re going to create thinking time to how you’re going to get there. And then in that, you’re also going to create drawing time and your job is to take each one of those visions, your 90 day vision, your six month vision, your five year vision and your a hundred year vision. And you have to create it on a piece of paper or on a poster board and you have to do it with no words. You have to draw what it looks like. You have to be able to see it and look at it and remember what it looks like. And so for me, a recommended reading for this is called a vivid vision by Cameron Herold. And I want you to draw it out. I want you to draw it out and have it in front of you. And then that becomes your vision board.
Your vision board becomes a combination of the visual representation that you created, that you drew that represents the vision because you recognize it. And the combination of the audio or video that you recorded. So you get to look at that board every single day. And then you get to listen to it every single day.
And you are constantly reminded and accountable of where you want to go. And then you give yourself the thinking time, every single day to reflect on what worked and what didn’t work to get you closer to that goal and what adjustments you’re going to make moving forward to help you get there. And so that is how you bring it to life.
And then. The final step is creating space for his existence. Now, in the last episode, I think it was the last episode. I talked about simplicity and clarity. And so I highly recommend you listen to that episode. I don’t know the numbers. I think it’s called simplicity and clarity. I think it came up before this one.
You need to create space for its existence and this is where you have to simplify your business and simplify your life. And this is really easy. We just have to stop doing more. We have to stop being reactive. We have to unplug, we have to take a parachute and pull it up to the 30,000 foot view to give ourselves the ability to do this.
And what I tell everybody is that if you feel out of control, that there’s too much to do, or you’re reacting, you’re not doing what you’re supposed to be doing. You need to slow down, spend more time designing and being intentional and putting into practice. The goal here is to go deep and not wide. We need to free up space in our life and in our space, in our business. And the one thing I will say, as you create clarity, as you create simplicity, as you create space in your life and business, the one thing you must protect and you must protect it with your life is not filling that space back up. When you create space, you must keep it. And you must utilize that for thinking time, for designing time, for vision time. And you should not fill it back up because the trap is that we live in and in this world do more but you’ll notice that most people, the people that are successful and happy don’t do that much. They are being a lot. They’re spending time being and doing things that they like.
But they’re not, “doing, doing, doing, doing” they’re designing. And then they’re making proactive choices of what levers to pull, what to put into practice, what they should do or who they should hire or what they should do to ensure that that vision is executed. But you can’t see the entire vision and make sure on path to get there. If you’re in the weeds, driving on the road, you have to own the entire map. And then you create a life where the right tasks or employees or teams or whatever it is in your life are driving the road to get there. And you’re maintaining them on course, that’s our job. And so the three things that you must do, you must document your vision.
Like I said, 90 days, six months, five years, a hundred years, record a voice note of yourself doing it, audio or video, and then you have to do it in your own voice and make a commitment to yourself. Not to me, this isn’t for me. Listen, let me be really frank with you. I’m here. I figured this game out, I’m living it and doing it and growing every day and this works. It works for me, works for my mastermind students. It works for our core students that works everywhere. I teach us across the board, all my business partners, everything it works. And I learned this from mentors, added my own spin and put it on. I’m telling you right now that no matter when you get there, whether it’s tomorrow, next year or 10 years, and you look back, you’re going to look back and be like, yep. That’s what it was. That’s what it was. So this is for you. And I want you to do it.
And remember the level of which you do it is dependent on it being the last task and ask yourself like, am I’m about to do this? Am I going to give it my all? If I was known for this being the last thing did I give it my all that is up to you, that is up to you to put that energy in.
And I want you to do that. Then the next thing is you’re going to bring it to life. This is about getting that visual vision, read the road less stupid by Keith Cunningham to learn about thinking time and then read vivid vision by Cameron Herold, to think about visualizing your goals. And you’re going to create your vision board and your vision board is a combination of that vision visually drawn.
Like drawing and I don’t care if it’s stick figures and dots, you must visually draw it because whatever you draw will resonate with your brain and your neural pathways, and we’ll keep you aligned on that goal and then you pair that with listening or watching yourself every single day. And if you’re uncomfortable listing yourself, me too.
That’s because it lands for us. It makes us uncomfortable because it calls us to grow. Sometimes we won’t like the sound of our voice because what’s happening is like, I feel it, it lands. It’s calling us. That’s a good thing. If you’re uncomfortable, it’s working. And if you’re comfortable, it’s worked enough that now you’re excited about it. So listen to it and make it a practice.
And then the third one is create space for its existence. Simplify your business, simplify your life. It’s not about doing more. It’s about doing less, more effective focus on going deep, not wide and free up space in your life and whatever you do do not fill that space back up. I’m going to be clear. I cover this extensively. I actually have, I think a two hour video on walking people through this drawing at documenting it, plus designing the perfect calendar, eliminating the MWA, the minimum wage activities and everything. I cover all of it in our lighthouse method course.
So this is the overview and this works. I want you to take this. I want you to put this into practice and I’m going to tell you right now that if you want more of this. You want accountability, examples, and how all of this ties together, then you might want to consider coming into our lighthouse method course, either way. I love you. I want you to do this, and I want you to post this in our Facebook group. Like no matter what you do, I want you to post a picture in our Facebook group relationships, feed algorithms. You can link to it @ mindofgeorge.com. I want you, and I challenge you to post this in our group. And that’s how I’ll know when you listen to this, that you took this seriously, because it doesn’t matter where you are in your business. Or your life, if you’re pre-revenue, if you don’t even have a business idea, you don’t know where you’re going. It’s imperative that you do this, and I’m going to be able to tell right off the bat. If you’re in. And so I expect once this is listened to, to see hundreds and hundredsof images post in the Facebook group, here’s a picture of my five year vision. Here’s a picture of my a hundred year vision and share your examples, share it with the world because as soon as you declared, it becomes real.
And so if you’re listening to this and this is landing and you want this to be real, even if you’re crystal clear where you want to go in five years or 10 years or a hundred years. Great. Do it again and do it again. And do it again, cause you’re going to keep doing it. I do it every day. I do it every day as we should, because we grow, we iterate and we get clear and we do it every day. We align ourselves and we make sure we’re on the right path. We do it.
So I challenge you. I challenge you to look at this. Like this is the last thing you’re going to be known for and taking that level of intention and energy and putting that into what you do. And I can guarantee your success when it comes like that. And I will help you with all of this. And so put it in the Facebook group regardless. But if you want more on like how to take this and apply this into your business, take this and apply this into your life. But I’m going to say right now, my closing thoughts in this episode are asking yourself right now, I’m about to do this. I’m about to do this task. I’m about to do this thing. I’m about to write this vision. I’m about to do this post. Am I giving this a hundred percent of everything I have. Is this a line to where I want to go?
If I was being remembered by this, like by this moment and how I played this moment, would I sit there and be like I gave it my all, that was the best version that I could do. That was everything that I needed. That was all the stuff that I could give it. And I’m proud of it. And if it is great, do it. And if it isn’t check in. And be like, wow, what’s missing. What would it take for me to give it my all? What would it take for me to get excited about this or, wow, I’m really scared of this. I’m scared of this cause it’s real. I’m scared of this because wow. This means I’m going to grow. I’m scared of this.
Cause this is going to move me forward. So great. I’m going to be scared and I’m going to do it anyways, but I’m going to give it my all, every task, everything you do intentionally done with everything you have, like it’s your last and that alone paired with clarity and simplicity. And what I shared in this episode about finding your vision is the path, the guaranteed path to your success and whatever that looks like with you.
So. Without further ado, I’m going to close it. Remember that relationships always beat algorithms. And I can’t wait to see your picture posted in the Facebook group. Yes. Yours. I’m fearless to listening to this. If there was a way that I knew you listened to you didn’t do it. I would show up at your doorstep and like, Hey, we’re going to do this together right now, but I can’t do that.
But if you want me to, I will try me see it, but posted in the group. I can’t wait to see it. The team now review it, let us know what we can help you have a beautiful day. Have a beautiful life and I’ll see you guys in the next episode. So don’t forget to subscribe, you know, blah, blah, blah. And I think I covered that in the outro anyways, but I love you all.
And I really, really mean that. And thank you for loving my crazy and listening to this and allowing me to be myself. So I’ll talk to you guys soon. Remember that relationships bets algorithms, and I will see you on the next episode.
