Copying the HOW without the WHY
As I went through this interview with Andrew, we explored on the many excuses that people like to tell themselves that stopped them from doing very simple things that lead to success.
We dove deeper into quite a few topics, so I’d like to pinpoint a couple that I feel will be helpful to you.
When I was young and just trying things out, I was making moves and doing things I saw other people do, but I didn’t understand the WHY behind what they were doing.
And because I did not understand the why behind what they were doing it, I was doing it wrong. It’s like some, it’s like some watching someone take a jump shot, you know, that we’re all used to seeing like they’re right-handed and they flip their thing and you, you take the shot and you move your left hand and go sideways because you see them do something, but you don’t actually understand the mechanics.
So my mistake was not understanding the mechanics behind the moves I was making as an entrepreneur.
Law of Attraction
The Law of Attraction is rooted in the understanding, the concept that everything is energy, which scientifically backed up, not just, um, very, very everything’s energy and all energy vibrates at a certain frequency.
And I guess the theory part comes in, although you will see an application, if you kind of lean in this. Well, like frequencies attract like frequencies. So if your energy and I’m energy, and these are devices that we’re speaking on is energy and the pink hoodie you’re wearing is energy. Right? So our thoughts, but the interesting thing about thoughts and feelings is that to a measure, we have a measure of control.
We can, you know, we’re not that the God king of our thoughts, because that might be too overwhelming, but we can lean in a certain direction, build up momentum and have it snowball from there. So this is where we get to that from the definition to what you can do about it strategically, with the understand that everything is energy, everything vibrates.
What if I know what if I say, okay, let me use thoughts and feelings as a strategic mechanism for inviting positive events and circumstances and outcomes in my life.
Why 1 Million in 24 hrs Is NOT All That
Let’s pretend I am looking to get a promotion. My favorite question to ask myself: Who would I have to be to already have that promotion? I would be gratuitous. I would hold the door. I would have more conversations with my employees. I would lead team meetings. Asking that question and coming up with those answers gives me a crystal clear path of what I should be doing right now instead of sitting here and complaining about why the F don’t have the promotion yet.
Andrew unpacks this in the following way.
“I don’t care what happens, when it happens, why it happens or how it happens”, which is basically me saying that strategically speaking, if you can come with a less attached energy where there’s no requirements and no restrictions, and you’re almost leaving it open-ended for either the universe or your subconscious mind, depending on your beliefs to pleasantly surprise you, you will be way more empowered when you’re trying to get that offer to convert.
My attitude is, be very specific in your gratitude and visualizations, but with the understanding of this or something better, not, it’s gotta be this way. Don’t be in love with “I made a million dollars in 24 hours”. Be willing to let the universe give you 10 million in one week. It doesn’t sound as flashy, but it’s a hell of a lot better.
You’re doing your part, but other parts are going to be done for you. Since you’re always doing your part, when those opportunities do end up coming in front of you, you’re actually going to be able to act on them.
You’re gonna be able to take advantage of them versus somebody who is kind of chugging along, but not really into it. And maybe a few opportunities do come their way, but they can’t even spot them. They’re not even self aware enough to see that that is a huge opportunity that they could or should be taking advantage of.
The 3 Parts of Your Mind
The way Andrew explains it when speaking about the ego is the following. He understands that we’ve got three minds. We’ve got our conscious mind, we’ve got our subconscious mind and we’ve got what I define as the ego right there in the middle. It’s in the middle because it’s way stronger than the conscious mind. The ego, as he defines it, is that part of your mind that has only one job in this world, and that’s to keep you alive. And that is good news or bad news, depending on where you are in your life right now, because that means whatever money problems you might have, whatever relationship problems, even whatever health problems you have, your ego is looking around. I took a look around the room and says, it’s okay, my person’s alive. And what it doesn’t want to do is to risk the status quo. It does not want to risk the change in us through a change of conditions. Even if those conditions are perceived as being positive by your conscious mind, because there’s someone out there right now reading this, and they want to be rich and or famous, but for all, your ego knows is when you become famous, you’re gonna get a stalker and that’s a threat to your survival. So it can’t be having that for all. Your ego knows that when you get rich, you’re gonna have distant family coming out of the woodwork to sue you for your home. Can’t have that. So your ego actually loves you. This is a misguided attempt. It thinks it’s keeping you safe in place, even though it’s keeping you stuck in place. And this is where we have those things where we try to control reality and then when it doesn’t work out, we feel really down on ourselves. That’s your ego in its own misguided, loving way saying, okay, I’m going to mess with you.
Ego is like I’m going to mess around with this guy as much as I want to. And I’m making sure that he’s not getting there, not because I’m not happy about him being miserable, I just don’t care about his comfort or satisfaction or fulfillment. I just care about keeping him safe and he’s safe right now. I’m not going to let anything change that. People reading this, they might be freaking like, I’ve got this part of my mind. That’s more powerful than my conscious mind that’s doing this to me. What do I do now? Well, then that’s a reminder. You’ve got your subconscious mind also, which is way more powerful. And then therefore the solution from my viewpoint, we’re talking about the law of attraction. We’re talking about gratitude and visualization. You bypass the ego and you access the subconscious mind, which will then push you across the finish line, either kicking or screaming or enjoying it.
