You Need To Stop Doing THIS Today

I’m excited to share a quote from one of my favorite books, “Man’s Search for Meaning” by Viktor Frankl. As an entrepreneur, I think this book is required reading for anyone, not just in business, but as a human being. I’ve personally read and listened to it two times already in the last 10 days, and I plan on listening to it again soon.

This quote hits on so many levels for me. It’s relevant to my personal life, my interpersonal relationships, my business, my team, everything. It’s a great reminder to get re-grounded when things get overwhelming. That’s why I keep it on my desk as a daily reminder. And now, I’m going to share it with you:

“Don’t aim at success. The more you aim at it and make it a target, the more you are going to miss it. For success like happiness cannot be pursued. It must ensue and it only does so as the unintended side effect of one’s personal dedication to a cause greater than oneself, or as the byproduct of one surrender to a person other than oneself, happiness must happen. And the same holds for success. You have to let it happen by not caring about it. I want you to listen to what your conscious commands you to do and go on to carry it out to the best of your knowledge. Then you will live to see that in the long run, in the long run, I say successful follow you precisely because you had forgotten to think about it.”

Every time I read this quote, it’s grounding and presencing for me. It reminds me to focus on impact and let success happen as a byproduct, rather than obsessing over it. Viktor Frankl was a wise man, and this quote proves it. I encourage you to take this with you throughout your day, write it down, Google it, print it out, keep it around you if it resonates with you.

So there you have it! I hope this quote helps you like it’s helped me. Remember, relationships beat algorithms. Thanks for listening, and I’ll see you in the next episode!
